
The Leopoldina represents the German academies in the European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC), an association of national academies from EU member states.
The recommendations issued since 2003 in which the Leopoldina was involved, were entitled:

Impact of migration on infectious diseases in Europe (2007, with Leopoldina President Volker ter Meulen in overall charge), also as short version

The recommendations concerning infectious diseases are based on two meetings: In 2004 the international symposium „Threat of Infections: Microbes of High Pathogenic Potential – Strategies for Detection, Control and Eradication“ took place in Würzburg and was organised together with the Académie des sciences (France). In October 2004 the first Leopoldina Annual Conference took place in Heidelberg about „Microbes in Malignancy“. The recommendations issued are based on these events.
